Many of us who grew up in Upshur County, learn a lot about the area from civil war era on- however the town was burgeoning even before this.
Because of differences in names, settlement laws, and the eventual split from Virginia- Upshur County history pre-1865 (and even then, less before 1900) has very little historiography about it.
